How the numbers are worked out
Wax is lighter than water, so one fluid ounce of container space holds less than one ounce of wax by weight. The calculator multiplies your total fill volume by the wax factor above to get the total weight to pour. It then splits that weight into wax and fragrance oil so the finished candle still fills the jar.
Percent of wax weight: oil = wax × load. Total = wax × (1 + load).
Percent of total weight: oil = total × load. Wax = total − oil.
An 8% load by wax weight is a little weaker than 8% of total weight. Check which method your wax supplier's maximum refers to.
